Phillipsburg Middle School Instrumental Music
The PMS Bands are dedicated to providing students with an exceptional musical education while being a safe place for middle schoolers to grow as people. We build upon the students existing musical foundation so that our students are able to perform with confidence at a high level. We recognize the multitude of cognitive, social, and emotional benefits the study and performance of an instrument bring and that music is intrinsic to human beings.
Ensembles
6th Grade Band: All incoming 6th Graders, as well as any beginner musicians. Rehearses during school and occasionally after.
7th&8th Grade Band: All 7th&8th Graders. Rehearses during school and occasionally after.
Select Band: Begins in January each year, the ensemble consists of 7th&8th Grade Band members as well as auditioned 6th graders
Jazz Band: An auditioned group of 6th, 7th, & 8th Graders, meets mainly after school
Lessons
Students each receive a small group lesson once a week during the school day
